The aim of this project is to find, identify and archive photos taken in Sarajevo - Bosnia, during the war from the period 1992 - 1996.
A period of 3 years, 10 months, 3 weeks and 3 days to be exact.
We will document the war from people who experienced it first-hand
and from photographers who covered it.
We would like to acknowledge and credit the brave and courageous photographers
who lived the war together with us and bore witness to our suffering.
Some of whom tragically lost their lives in the process.
We would like to give them a place in our history.
This website will honour those brave men and women, our unsung heroes, who risked their lives to tell our stories, who’s lenses opened a window onto our world so that humanity could see what was happening to us and bear witness to a tragedy unfolding.
There are kids and families who suffered a lot during the war, 11,541 people were killed during the ‘Siege of Sarajevo’, there are those who have survived, there are those who have stories to tell.
Reports indicate that between 5 and 15 people wounded daily were victims
of sniper-fire, many were gunned down in cold-blood in the notorious ‘Sniper Alley’.
Forgotten stories. Untold stories. Tales of terror.
That’s why we are here, to share your experiences by preserving the truth.
We would like to identify and trace children from well-known war photographs to find out where they are now, how their lives have changed and what kind of impact war had on them.
