Luc Delahaye

Born in Tours - France in 1962, Luc Delahaye took his first news photographs in 1984, and in 1985 was hired by Sipa Press agency and sent to Beirut, his first experience of war. His subsequent war assignments include those in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Rwanda, Iraq, the West Bank, Gaza, Haiti and the Congo. Delahaye joined Magnum Photos in 1994, the same year he signed a contract with Newsweek, became a member of Magnum in 1998 and remained with the agency until 2004. Alongside his work as a photojournalist, Delahaye’s documentary projects include Winterreise (2000) and Une Ville (2003); among his awards are the Robert Capa Award, the Oskar Barnack Award, the ICP Infinity Award, the Deutsche Börse Prize and the Prix Pictet. In 2001 Delahaye stopped working as a photojournalist and has since dedicated himself to creating photographic tableaux. Luc won the first prize at the World Press Photo awards (1992, 1993 and 2002), for his work while covering the Siege of Sarajevo he won it in 1992.
