About Peter Northall

Peter Northall is a British photographer who covered the Siege of Sarajevo for the Associated Press (AP) throughout the 1990s. His images documented daily life under siege, from children navigating "Sniper Alley" to civilians queuing for water and bread amid constant shelling and sniper fire. Northall's photographs, including early images from the war in Croatia (Dubrovnik, 1991), remain among the defining visual records of the war in Bosnian and Herzegovina. His work was later included in the acclaimed photo book Bosnia 1992–1995, alongside contributions from Enrico Dagnino, Gilles Peress, Tom Stoddart and other leading photographers and photojournalists who documented the war.
