About Wesley Bocxe
Wesley Bocxe is an American photojournalist, raised in New York City, who got his start covering Peru before launching an international career that spanned more than a dozen conflicts. He first made his name documenting the devastating 1985 Mexico City earthquake while working for Reuters and went on to cover wars in Nicaragua and El Salvador in the 1980s, the first Gulf War, and the Siege of Sarajevo in the early 1990s. Known among colleagues as a 'lone wolf correspondent', Bocxe was noted for his patience and independent approach, often pursuing angles other journalists overlooked. He retired from full-time photojournalism around 2011, settling in Mexico City.
